Guapiaçu Ecological Reserve hosts golden August Event in Cachoeiras de Macacu

The Guapiaçu Ecological Reserve was the chosen venue for the Golden August event in Cachoeiras de Macacu. The gathering brought together pregnant women, new mothers, breastfeeding women, and healthcare professionals to support the campaign raising awareness of the importance of breastfeeding.

This initiative, promoted by the National Supplementary Health Agency (ANS), aims to increase breastfeeding rates in Brazil, aligning with the UN's 2030 Agenda goals. The gold colour, established by the World Health Organization (WHO), symbolises breast milk as the "golden food" for babies.

The Golden August campaign was officially established in Brazil by Federal Law No. 13,345 of 12 April 2017 and has become a crucial tool in promoting maternal and child health across the country.
